Self-hosting pi-hole, Home Assistant, or another service is both fun and useful, but as the home network keeps growing, it becomes increasingly difficult to keep track of what’s running where and how things are connected.

Before each Formula 1 season kicks off in Australia, there are several testing days mid-February in Barcelona — a prime opportunity for photographing F1 cars without large crowds in the way. We went on days 1 and 2 of the first week of testing. Having seen F1 cars drive around a circuit in person for the first time in those days, I can confirm that they’re very fast and very loud.

To be able to monitor the internet connection status of my Connect Box cable modem, I built a Prometheus exporter and a Grafana dashboard. It’s all on Github (links on the bottom) so you can monitor your own Connect Box as well.
